Horizontal Rain

Mikael solo

This work was composed and performed live in Reykjavik in Iceland, the 11th of May 2007, at the Iceland Academy of the Arts.

One of the features that Ireland and Iceland have in common is rain - lots of rain, and when it's really raining heavily and storms are coming in from the North Atlantic, the rain is horisontal, not vertical. The sounds in Horizonal Rain are both recordings of natural sounds from Iceland and Ireland as well as sound models made in Pure Data (of wind, waves and bird calls), controlled in realt-time with two gestural controllers based on Tyndall's Wireless Intertial Measurement Units.
